A book card for my parents at Christmas

Year after year I feel so blessed to have my parents still alive and well with me especially at Christmas. Both myself and my father love Christmas with all the decorations, pudding, cakes etc.


This year I wanted to suprise my Dad (who tends to appreciate them more) with a book card for Christmas.


Wish I took a photo of him opening up his Christmas card this year but he was in his PJ's and I don't think that would have been appropriate to put up on here lol!


I love book cards. Yes they do take a while to finish but the end result is so nice. It gives depth to a project.


This was my first try colouring with prisma colour pencils on kraft paper. Yes it is difficult. Yes you have to think a lot with your mind regarding direction of light etc.  But I feel it gives a warmth to the whole picture in itself.

Papers used are Maja Design and Pion Design

Stamp is from Whimsy Stamps love their Christmas stamps so much and their dies as well, you can see the green branches from them.

The sentiment is something I did  i.e. I wrote it it's not a stamp and even the words for Mum and Dad

The poinsietta is felt with some red twine and some red pomegranates and gold stars

Since it's a book card I used a ribbon tie on the side

Dies for the inside part are from Magnolia. The tree is something I built myself by topping on branches

Wedding it!

Having worked with a colleague of mine for some years we became quite close being in the same room at the office. After I moved to another company I really was not expecting her call to let me know she was getting married.


So having spent most of my days trying to get her a boyfriend (I worked really really hard haha) I was very happy to hear the news :)


And a Wedding so special deserved a project which would definitely be kept for years to come.


I wanted to do her a cake explosion box.

Her bridesmaids happened to be wearing the same colour as my card by the way :)

 The Congratulations die on the envelope was a die I purchased from Aliexpress. Loads of dies to put your hands on if you like them and at a very cheap price as was the envelope die.

Flowers I purchased from Wild Orchid Crafts

This is what it looks like after you take off the lid

This is the wedding cake all decorated with flowers, beads and little butterflies

I placed a photo of theirs on the inside to make it more personalised.

Christmas in the making

Here I am back after a long time of not updating my blog. I have been very busy with everything. From house re organisation to Christmas decorating a few weeks ago.

Thankfully I received some new Magnolia stamps that I bought from the 2016 Christmas collection (Aspen Holidays).

I have resorted to my distress ink which I love as it gives the images such a unique vintage look somehow.

Papers are Maja Design, the ribbon is something I had in my stash sitting there for a number of years now I guess.

The Merry Christmas sentiment has been stamped with versamark ink and heat embossed with seafoam white on kraft paper, I think it matches the background paper very well.

Some jute ribbon and a foamiran poinsietta which I cut out with Magnolia Poinsietta die. Branches are die cut from a Whimsy Stamp collection (their latest ones). I have put some snow dots with my white marker over the whole picture and then placed some nice silver stars which I purchased from Lidl.
